The word gospel means "Good News". It is derived from the Anglo-Saxon term god-spell, meaning “good story,” a rendering of the Latin evangelium and the Greek euangelion, meaning “good news” or “good telling.” The "Good News" is that Jesus Christ came for everyone. This good news means that each one of us has an opportunity to receive Jesus Christ into our lives and to have a new life in Him.
If you are inquiring about faith in Jesus, then here is the good news of The Gospel for you.
1. All mankind is fallen and needs forgiveness for sin and wrongdoing.
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Romans 3:23
2. God provided a way for everyone to receive forgiveness through His Son Jesus Christ.
16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
John 3:16-18
3. Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried and after three days He rose back to life.
1 Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. 3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance : that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
I Corinthians 15:1-4
4. Jesus Christ is the only way for salvation and forgiveness.
10 then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. 11 He is “ ‘the stone you builders rejected, which has become the capstone.’ 12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”
Acts 4:10-12
5. We must be born again.
3 In reply Jesus declared, “I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.’”
John 3:3
6. We are to repent and turn away from wrongdoing and sin.
19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,
Acts 3:19
7. We must open our hearts to receive Jesus Christ into it.
9 That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11 As the Scripture says, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.”
Romans 10:9-11
8. We can confess our sins to God and be forgiven.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
I John 1:9
9. We become new beings in Him.
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
II Corinthians 5:17
10. Find a church family to meet with regularly and grow with.
25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
Hebrews 10:25
11. We are to share this message with everyone.
18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Matthew 28:18-20
If you would like to know Christ in your heart and life, then you can pray a simple prayer like this to invite Him in.
"Lord Jesus, I confess that I have done wrong in my life and ask for your forgiveness. I invite you Jesus to come into my heart and to be my Lord and Savior this day. I ask this in Jesus Name. Amen"
